This past Monday, MAXIMUS announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Acentia, a provider of technology and management solutions to U.S. federal government civilian and health agencies. Acentia provides systems modernization, software development, program management, and other information technology services and solutions.

MAXIMUS and Acentia both provide solutions that help transform and operate government programs.  Acentia brings technology capabilities that complement our business process management capabilities and citizen services. The combined new entity will bring additional depth of capabilities, strong financial backing, and a commitment and past performance record of meeting – and often exceeding – customer expectations.

Rich Montoni, our Chief Executive Officer, said, “The Acentia acquisition provides MAXIMUS with an additional growth platform, which is an important step in our long-term strategy to continue to grow our U.S. federal business.”

Tom Romeo, our President of MAXIMUS Federal Services and integration leader, echoed Rich’s sentiments. “We've had tremendous organic growth in the market, but felt the need to shore up our technology capabilities and increase our access to additional federal contract vehicles,” he said. “It was the right time to make that move. I think this is very transformational. The combination of two entities, providing a full range of capabilities — it makes us a well-positioned provider in the federal space.”

As expected, this announcement has received a lot of attention from publications such as The Washington PostWashington Business Journal and Washington Technology.

After the acquisition closes this Spring, we will be excited to welcome the Acentia team to MAXIMUS.
