JVS SoCal is an employment services organization based in Los Angeles that provides job training and placement services to job seekers throughout Southern California. For more than nine decades, they’ve assisted individuals, including Veterans transitioning back to the workforce.

JVS SoCal helps job seekers gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce by providing no-cost job training, placement services, and career training programs. With 32,000 people served across their programs, JVS SoCal helps clients find sustainable employment and build successful careers with opportunities for advancement. In addition to job training and placement services, JVS SoCal partners with employers to provide diversity and inclusion training that helps employers understand and address workplace discrimination, creating a more inclusive and supportive workplace environment for all employees.

Maximus and JVS SoCal have worked together for over two decades to support Los Angeles County’s GAIN (Greater Avenues for Independence) program, providing vocational training for nearly 15,000 welfare-to-work recipients. As the only two providers contracted for the program, their close collaboration and communication have created a high-performing team that has generated exceptional results for the program and the recipients it supports.

With a strong partnership and a shared mission of helping job seekers overcome barriers to employment, the Maximus Foundation awarded a grant to JVS SoCal to provide additional funding for job training and support services. The Foundation’s grant enabled JVS SoCal clients to receive intensive case management, access to mental, physical, and emotional health services, government-issued benefits, paid work experience for first jobs or new career experience, and vocational training.

The Foundation’s grant allowed JVS SoCal to further expand its support during 2022, including:

  • Serving 450 Veterans and placement of 298 in new careers.
  • Enrolling 57 individuals in JVSWorks career training programs to help them start new careers in high-growth industries.
  • Helping more than 50 professional women retool or start new careers.

With a commitment to helping job seekers achieve self-sufficiency, JVS SoCal is working toward creating a more equitable and inclusive job market for all.

Giving back to the communities we serve

The Maximus Foundation is one of the ways Maximus employees are doing something greater together. Established by the Maximus Board of Directors in 2000, the Maximus Foundation is an independent, employee-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Employee donors pool their contributions together through the Foundation, increasing their community impact by supporting nonprofits that serve the same communities we do. Employee donors double their impact through Maximus’ dollar-for-dollar matching pledge and make their voices heard by nominating and voting for future grantee partners.
