Why do you think it’s important for companies to invest in a DE&I strategy?

Erin Halliday: I assist with the daily operations of training customer service representatives. I think it is imperative that our representatives be sensitive and aware of the information presented through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion groups. The people we serve need and deserve to work with individuals who are sensitive and understanding of the different struggles that all people face. Our representatives are often on the receiving end of their community's struggles, and it's vital they understand how to be effective and empathetic throughout the resolution.

Why did you join the ERG?

Erin Halliday: I joined the Women of Excellence (WE) ERG because I am passionate about women's empowerment and development both professionally and personally.

What’s the most exciting experience you have had as a member of the ERG?

Erin Halliday: The most exciting experience for me was meeting Dr. Arvenita Washington Cherry and getting to connect with her via LinkedIn. It is important and exciting to have such powerful and inspiring professionals to look up to as a young professional.

What’s the biggest impact you think the ERG can have on Maximus and/or the community?

Erin Halliday: I would love to see WE expand its reach into all corners of Maximus. Professional development opportunities like mentoring can change the trajectory of a career. Personal development opportunities like volunteering, myLearning courses, and sounding board meetings like our monthly Zoom meetings can change lives.
