The California Public Utilities Commission chose Maximus to administer California’s statewide LifeLine Program. LifeLine provides discounted wired or wireless services to help qualified households lower the cost of their phone bills. With LifeLine, qualified families can access healthcare, make appointments, speak with caregivers, and even talk with potential employers and get called back for job interviews.     

Beginning in April  2019, we perform end-to-end program management – from eligibility determination to citizen engagement services, web-based enrollments, and document intake and processing. Our platform keeps the program objectives front and center, and our central management and administration team aims to:

If they think they qualify, citizens can contact their approved LifeLine telephone service provider or call the hotline to find available companies, apply, check their status and renew. They can also learn about the program on the website, where they can link to providers to search for carriers that offer LifeLine in their ZIP Code and even apply online.

Our complete, centralized solution includes citizen engagement services, database and website services, application processing with imaging of paper documents, customer notification, records retention, data privacy, program reporting services and mobile-enabled services.
