Christa Ballew

Senior Managing Director, Clinical Services

Christa Ballew brings more than 25 years of program administration and executive management experience in health and human services at both the state and local levels. As senior managing director of clinical services, she's responsible for our national portfolio of projects where we provide assessment services that help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health diagnoses, and complex physical or medical conditions receive essential services.

Christa joined Maximus in 1997 as a modification specialist for a child support program in Cook County, Illinois. As her career progressed, Christa led several specialized child support services across 23 states. In 2016, when Maximus acquired Ascend, a leading provider of independent health assessments and data management tools to government agencies, she transitioned to our growing clinical services business. In this role, she applied her knowledge of portfolio oversight and management, human resources, policy and process improvement, and quality measurement and analysis. Today, her team supports states seeking the best ways to serve populations with complex needs — aging adults, persons with physical disabilities, and persons with behavioral health, intellectual, and developmental disabilities — on a large scale.

Dedicated to serving people and communities facing barriers, Christa is a member of the National Association of PASRR Professionals (NAPP) and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD).

Christa is a certified Project Management Professional and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
