Christa Ballew

Senior Managing Director, Clinical Services

Christa Ballew brings over 20 years of program administration and executive management experience in health and human services at the state and local level. She is responsible for a national portfolio of projects where we provide assessment services that help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health diagnoses, and complex physical or medical conditions receive essential services.

Christa joined Maximus in 1997 as a modification specialist for a child support program in Cook County, Illinois. As her career progressed, Christa led several specialized child support services projects, managed 27 contracts across 23 states, and supported the efforts of more than 300 dedicated personnel throughout 12 offices.

When Maximus acquired Ascend, a leading provider of independent health assessments and data management tools to government agencies, in 2016, Christa joined our growing clinical services business. She applied her knowledge of portfolio oversight and management, human resources, policy and process improvement, and quality measurement and analysis there. Today, her team supports states as they seek the best ways to serve vulnerable populations — aging adults, persons with physical disabilities, and persons with behavioral health, intellectual, and developmental disabilities — on a large scale.

Dedicated to serving people and communities facing barriers, Christa is a current member of the National Association of PASRR Professionals and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and past president and present board member of the Illinois Family Support Enforcement Association (IFSEA). Christa is also a past board member of the National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA). In addition to being a certified project management professional, Christa holds a bachelor’s degree in art and psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
