Elisabeth Schmidt currently serves as the Civilian Portfolio Operations Lead for Technology Services at Maximus. In this role, she is responsible for developing strategic growth plans to expand technology service capabilities across key Civilian client accounts, including the Departments of Energy, Transportation, Interior, Commerce and Agriculture, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Elisabeth drives high-quality program service delivery and operations, bringing innovation and technology solutions that advance digital modernization and data interoperability to achieve critical client mission objectives.
Elisabeth has over three decades of experience in business transformation, program management, and systems integration across public and private sectors. Before joining Maximus, she was the North America Workforce Transformation Program Lead at IBM Consulting and Vice President of Operations and Technology at Fannie Mae. For 27 years, she was a Partner at Accenture, delivering critical programs for federal clients, including the Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury, Energy, and Education. Known for building trusted client relationships and fostering team member growth, Elisabeth creates collaborative environments that enhance performance and drive continuous improvement through proactive analytics.
Elisabeth's work with the Department of Energy (DOE) has profound personal significance. Her father, a PhD in nuclear physics, devoted his career to advancing magnetic-fusion energy and plasma science at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and at MIT, collaborating with scientists worldwide.
Today, she finds meaning in supporting DOE's continued pursuit of nuclear fusion energy—carrying forward her father's groundbreaking work. Elisabeth holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Sciences from Southern Methodist University and resides in Northern Virginia.
