Allen (“Al”) Thompson is Senior Vice President of Government Relations at Maximus, where he leads the company's engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to strengthen trust and advance Maximus's public policy priorities. Recognized as one of the most influential government affairs executives in Washington, Al brings decades of experience advising CEOs, corporate boards, and public sector leaders on complex legislative and regulatory issues.
Al joined Maximus from Intel Corporation, where he served as Vice President of U.S.-Canada Government Relations, leading the company's federal and state advocacy efforts and playing a leading role in securing passage of the CHIPS and Science Act, landmark industrial policy legislation that strengthened domestic semiconductor manufacturing.
Earlier in his career, Al held senior government relations roles at RTX Corporation, Mehlman Consulting, and the Retail Industry Leaders Association. He began his career as a U.S. Coast Guard Intelligence Officer and later served as a senior staff member on the Homeland Security Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He currently serves on the board of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Athletic Corporation and the Faith and Politics Institute and previously served on the board of the Bryce Harlow Foundation.
A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Al holds a Bachelor of Science in Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a Master of Arts in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University.
