Maximus, one of the largest providers of government-sponsored benefit appeals programs in the United States, is recruiting Medical Providers to present evidence either at hearings (via the phone) or through written interrogatories for claimants appealing denial of certain SSA benefits.  This program serves residents on the East Coast from Maine to Puerto Rico.

Program requirements

Medical Experts will be asked to provide impartial expert opinion evidence by telephone or in writing to support benefit determination decisions.

Requirements:

  • An active medical license/state certificate
  • Complete the SSA background paperwork and process

This process also includes fingerprinting and a background investigation by the Center for Suitability and Personnel Security (CSPS). Obtaining favorable suitability will enable Medical Experts to provide impartial opinion evidence for the cases they will be asked to support.

Getting started

Getting started is easy. To apply as a Medical Expert, follow these steps:

  1. Complete and submit the Provider Profile Form and attach your current CV and medical license.
  2. Complete, print, sign and scan back completed Fair Credit Reporting Act Authorization and Declaration for Federal Employment forms to SSAME_General@maximus.com.
  3. Complete Form SSA-222, Security Awareness/Contractor Affiliate Personnel Security Certification.

Receipt of these items will start the formal processes for obtaining suitability, which takes approximately 30 days after fingerprinting. From there, Maximus will guide you through the remaining application documentation requirements.

Current SSA Medical Experts

If you are a current SSA Medical Expert on another Maximus program or have provided these services in the past and would like to continue,  you can quickly and easily complete the paperwork to join the SSA Medical Expert Review program.

To apply, email your current CV and completed Contractor Personnel Rollover Request template to SSAME_General@maximus.com.
