The District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services awarded us a new contract to administer its Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Employment and Education Program. We’ll be administering both Education and Occupational Training and Job Placement Services.
Under the new contract, we’ll focus on enhancing families’ skills and education to build their capacity to pursue stable employment that provides family-sustaining income. We’ll also provide coaching, career pathways, and business services through a delivery model that includes home visits and offers customers the option of in-person or virtual services. For customers who prefer digital engagement and have program questions, the recently refreshed program website includes live chat.
Customers will engage with the same Maximus case manager throughout their employment journeys, a familiarity that is especially important to minimize service disruption and foster trusting relationships that promote long-term program engagement. Approximately one-third of our staff members supporting this work are previous program participants.
We’ve provided TANF case management and employment services for the District of Columbia since 2000, helping thousands of families break the cycle of poverty. We help job-seeking customers find and retain employment by empowering them to develop individual roadmaps to success, engage with training and education providers, and access vocational training in high-growth sectors.
