Five Maximus team members visited the Winchester Rescue Mission (WRM), a nonprofit organization that supports underserved communities located in Winchester, Virginia. The goal of the visit was to further build a relationship with the organization and explore additional ways to support their initiatives.

In April 2024, the Maximus Foundation awarded the WRM a grant to support its mission of providing high-quality care to individuals devastated by the effects of poverty and homelessness. In addition to shelter and case management services, the WRM provides more than 180 home-cooked meals a day and operates a food bank for community members in need.

The other option would be to list out employees and their titles up here. I think you’d also want to split the paragraph into two sentences. Maybe end after Winchester, Virginia. The nonprofit organization supports underserved communities.

I have been a volunteer case manager at WRM since 2021, so I already knew first-hand about the amazing work they do to help members of our community in need. From this visit, my takeaway was how much support I felt from Maximus, the Foundation, and my colleagues in wanting to contribute to this work.

Often, people don’t realize how fortunate they are and that there are people who are challenged in life for reasons outside of their control, said Ira Arbus, Senior Director of Technology Consulting Services (TCS) in Federal Services.

The Foundation grants aim to expand awareness and support for WRM locally and other great organizations like it around the country, Mollitor explained.

“It was inspiring to see how much good WRM can do with limited resources,” he said. “They provide a critical service to the region and its community members in need. Their services not only focus on meeting basic, immediate needs but also on supporting individuals’ growth toward future goals.”

Eric Sibley, a Consultant in Federal Services, also lives nearby and participated in the visit. He said he’s proud to work for a company that supports the communities where its employees live and serve.

“I look forward to continuing to engage with Winchester Rescue Mission and other organizations in need,” he said.

Business Analyst and Winchester native Stephanie Till Dannenberg agreed.

“It can be easy for large companies to lack awareness of service programs in smaller communities, like Winchester, Virginia,” she said. “Seeing the Foundation provide financial support to and raise awareness of the WRM, an organization that provides critical services in my small community, makes me feel proud to be a part of this company.”

Starting in 2025, the Foundation will launch an updated strategy for its 25th anniversary focused on multi-year funding for nonprofits working on food access and food insecurity.

Giving back to the communities we serve

The Maximus Foundation is one of the ways Maximus employees are doing something greater together. Established by the Maximus Board of Directors in 2000, the Maximus Foundation is an independent, employee-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Employee donors pool their charitable contributions together through the Foundation, double their impact on the grantmaking program through Maximus’ dollar-for-dollar matching pledge, and make their voices heard by nominating and voting for future grantee partners. Though the Foundation focuses its giving strategy on grantmaking, it also helps coordinate corporate-wide humanitarian efforts and empowers employees to donate their time and skills to nonprofits. Their inspired giving and volunteerism help accelerate the missions of nonprofits on the front lines of the communities we serve. Learn more at the Maximus Foundation website.
