Comprehensive program reform saves $1 billion in California

As part of California's efforts to control employers' workers' comp premiums, we transformed the state's program by implementing an Independent Medical Review (IMR) process. Instead of having opposing medical experts present testimony to non-clinical judges, our process utilizes independent healthcare professionals to resolve disputes about the necessity of treatment. Screened to avoid any conflicts of interest, these expert reviewers - including doctors, nurses, and other clinicians - provide efficient, objective recommendations, expediting the appeals process and greatly reducing costs.

Contact tracing and vaccine distribution support makes an impact

Since the pandemic began, we have assisted communities in 10 states with their contact tracing programs. In addition, 8 states have entrusted Maximus to support their COVID-19 vaccination distribution programs. Drawing upon our clinical-related capabilities, we provide information and hotline services to answer common questions, address concerns, resolve complaints, and coordinate vaccination appointments.

David Casey, SVP, Government Relations

David has more than 30 years of professional and operations experience, including successful implementation of large-scale information technology and business process outsourcing projects for health and human services, administrative, legislative and regulatory governmental agencies. He joined Maximus in 1994, has held various operational management positions within the Company, and currently serves on the Maximus Executive Committee as well as the Maximus Foundation Board of Directors.

Doug Howard, SVP, U.S. Services

Doug has nearly 35 years of experience in human services in both the public and private sectors. In his current role as a Senior Vice President at Maximus, Mr. Howard focuses on business development for the Company's U.S. Health and Human Services business. Mr. Howard’s government career included serving as Director of the Michigan Family Independence Agency and as the Administrator for the Division of Economic Assistance, Iowa Department of Human Services, where he led the implementation of major reforms to the welfare system.

Jim Miller, Strategic Solutions, Office of the President

Jim is responsible for development and implementation of strategy and new solutions at Maximus. Reporting to the President, Jim coordinates the strategy efforts of the various business units as well as the identification, design, development, and implementation of new growth platforms and solutions initiatives across the firm. Jim’s career has focused on new solutions and strategies across a variety of different industries; both domestic and international.
